What to put on name labels
- First and last name (or first name + initial for kids)
- Optional: class, team or company
- Optional: a small icon so pre-readers can recognise their things
Tips
- For kids’ belongings, waterproof vinyl labels survive lunch boxes and dishwashers far better than paper.
- Name badges (Avery 5395, 2⅓" × 3⅜") need the name at 24 pt or larger to be read across a room.
- Iron-on clothing labels need special fabric transfer sheets, not adhesive labels.

Questions
How do I print name tags for an event?
Paste your guest list, one name per line, under Sheet & print. Each name goes on its own badge label; add a second text line with the company or role using {2} if you paste “Name, Company”.
Are these labels dishwasher-safe?
Only if printed on dishwasher-safe vinyl or polyester label stock. Paper labels will not survive.
What label size for school supplies?
Small ½" × 1¾" labels (Avery 5167) fit pencils and crayons; 1" × 2⅝" (5160) suit books and lunch boxes.
