Tips
- ASTM F2058 sets out the cautionary labelling candles sold in the US are expected to carry; many makers put the warning on a separate bottom label.
- Measure burn time yourself; do not copy it from a wax supplier’s chart.
- Heat from the flame can lift paper labels near the rim. Keep labels on the lower two-thirds of the jar.

Questions
What size label fits a candle jar?
For 8 oz straight-sided jars a 4" × 2" (Avery 5163) wrap works well. Tin lids usually take a 2" or 2½" round label (Avery 22807 or 22830).
What warnings go on a candle label?
Commonly: burn within sight, keep away from things that can catch fire, keep away from children and pets, trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn, and stop using when ½ inch of wax remains.
